What's the psychology term for when a person dislikes another person for a quality that they themselves have? For example, the person who is usually the funny guy at a party that sees another guy cracking jokes in a group of people and gets angry. Thank you =)

Transference.

I would say counter transference, because it involves a positive trait (sense of humor). Projection usually deals with a negative trait (ex. A habitual liar despises "phony people")..Projection is more like when you are aware of your most negative fault but choose not to face it, so you deal with it by despising those who share that same characteristic

I'm not aware of an existing scientific term for it, but I think it can be explained as a threat to one's self-perceived value. So a funny guy thinks his most valuable asset is his sense of humour, and he sees he's been upstaged, he suddenly feels rather dispensable.

the psychology term is called countertransference. The funny guy is experiencing countertransference watching this other guy crack jokes. Hope it helps.

I would have to call it projection! Its like the other guy you hate because he is acting like you and you are mad, hostile and envious.

Jealousy? Projection, perhaps? (projecting anger upon others for that which you see in yourself)
