The main problem with stage fright is that your self-concious, so just forget about yourself and get lost in your character.

In fact, forget that you have a self. Just throw your concious of a building.

Then you don't notice the audience, and aren't scared.

It's great. :)

- the best thing to do is to know your lines!!! ...a good defense is a strong offense (not remembering my lines was the dominant cause of stage fright for me, but once I felt confident in my line memorization the stage fright faded)
- it also helps to know the general dialogue and the action in every scene you're in (in case of flubbed lines you'll have a better idea of how to improvise if need be)
- don't be afraid of making a mistake..the audience knows this is an inevitability with live theater...if mistakes happen, the best thing to do is to keep on going, pretending like nothing went wrong and improvising if necessary, oftentimes the audience has no clue something has gone wrong
- warm up and get into character before going on stage
- tell yourself why you are there (because you love theater!)
- to tell the truth a wee bit of stage fright is helpful because it keeps you mentally alert

Honestly, this worked for me, and helps me get in character every time I'm hesitant.

Try to get the stage for yourself and a couple friends, and have them scattered throughout the otherwise empty theater. Now, get onstage, and....

Scream. Yell. Dance. Be crazy. Try doing crazy immitations of whomever. Get up there with a couple of friends and play some improv games.

Ok, so you're freaked out. You somehow made it through auditions, got casted, and its opening night, and you're about to have a heart attack. You should know the show front and back, inside and out, and even as an extra, be ready to step forward if someone forgot their line (in character of course).

BE IN CHARACTER. Say you're a munchkin in the "The Wizard of Oz". Munchkins don't pace, nervously laugh when they forget a line, they don't cower in the back of the crowd. If you're in total character and "in the zone" , then you won't have a chance to get nervous.

Have a small video clip of a large audience facing the Camera, play it often on a large monitor, practise the school play facing the video clipping, a number of times !
The 'live' will be more or less the same.... Just like taking a 'model' exam too many times, to make even the real one feel like just a casual model exam !

Just join the play. At my old school, we had school plays, I joined twice as the Chorus aka extra and it really helped me. But also I've performed many times, so I'm used to it. But yeah, join it. Practice. Sing in front of people and practice some lines with people around too. If you need any more help with acting or music, email me at Dadahcm@yahoo.com. Good luck!

Just don't worry about embarassing yourself! If you worry about that you'll have a bad audition. None of the great actors hold themselves back so you shouldn't eaither. and stagefright is normal for everyone you get better at dealing with in through experience. but it's not a bad thing, it gives you energy---one of the most important things for an actor

Well the problem is that you are not use to acting in front of people the only thing to do is to do the play and maybe more place that´ll give you confidence and more and more til you love to see their faces being glad to see you!!

Practice, practice, practice! Prepare in front of friends, family, whatever works. Say a prayer, if it helps you. Make sure you know your lines well.

Everyone says you should imagine people in there underwear. But you should imagine ghost that can't do a thing about anything. You should look at anything. So think no one there.
