I just went over the summer. 5 days isnt a long time. If you LOVE rides, don't consider on buying every Disney ticket because you won;'t have time but Magic Kingdom and EPCOT have more rides than the other 2 but MGM is a cool place. Universal/islands of adventure is a big place. Some advice, if its a sunny day go to islands of adventure. If it rains/ thunders they close all the rides, unlike universal because they are all inside. Take a stroll on over to IDRIVE in orlando. They have some decent pricing for hotels and many dining places. it is also 3-5 miles from Universal. Maybe 13 miles from Disney. Some hotels even offer transportation to the parks. Thats what I got. There was a coach bus that drove us to a from the park. Also different amusements there on IDRIVE, go karts, arcade, mini amusement park. anything else you wanna know let me know
for any of the parks
u have to stay late when its dark
they got great shows at night
o ya
SEA WORLD is great. Such an awesome place and Im in college. Not for kids at all.
if you stay on disney property, expect to pay atleast $230-300 a night

If you're poor, then you don't need to go to Disney or Universal. Everything is so expensive. I bought Universal tickets online, they usually have an online only deal, where you buy a 2 day pass get one free, or buy 3 days get 2 days free. While at Universal, we stayed at the days inn hotel, it was a good deal. Around $35 a night, it was clean, but not updated. We were happy with it, and they didn't have roaches! Disney didn't really have any money saving coupons or deals at the time we went. Although, we bought our Disney tickets through AAA, which were a few $$ cheaper. We didn't really enjoy Disney as much as Universal. At Disney the lines were were about 3 hours long, and it was hot! Disney was fun, but Universal was so cool. Take a water bottle in the gates with you so you can refill it at a water fountain for free! Have a great trip!

Depends on your ages.
Universal is best for teens and up. Disney is more for the small kids or retirees, unless you've never been. My daughter is 8 and she won't go to Magic Kingdom anymore.
Sea World is good. MGM just o.k., Epcot is good. Blizzard Beach is good. Wet and Wild better for teens and up.
I live in the area. Unless you like t shirt shops stay away from IDrive. The traffic is horrible. Hotels all over the area from 39.95+ a night with a few miles of disney.
Try RCI.com if you want something with a kitchen, living room and 2bed/2bath.
We prefer to stay at a Disney resort because the activities and entertainment there is usually the best part of the trip. Plan to spend 300+ per night for a good one.
We just got back from Fort Wilderness Campground Monday. Never went to the theme parks at all. So much to do at the resort that we never left the property. Cabins 313.87 per night + 44.00 for a golf cart (necessity), dinner shows 40.00 p.p. Bingo, dodgeball, pool party, campfire, smores w/ an outdoor movie, free.

Hi there! Well if you guys were just going to visit Disney World, you wouldn't need a rental car because Disney has their own transportation system. However, since you wish to visit both, you will need one. But to save money, I recommend waiting to get your rental until you are done at Disney. To see and do practically everything at Disney World, you would ideally, want to spend 4 days there; 1 day at each park. However, to save money, you can squeeze two parks into a day and only spend 2 days at Disney World. Get everyone in your traveling party a 2 day park hopper pass. Spend day 1 at Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. Then on day 2, start off at Disney MGM Studios and finish off at EPCOT. Then take the Disney transportation bus to Downtown Disney and walk about half a block across the street to the Hilton hotel. Inside is an Avis rental car. Reserve your rental car there for the remainder of your trip.
You can save money and still enjoy the Disney experience by staying at Disney's economy resort, The All Star. By staying at a Disney Resort, you'll have the free transpo mentioned (even from the airport), and have free package delivery (if you buy stuff at the parks, you can ask that it be delivered to your hotel and they'll do it at no extra cost).
I prefer Islands of Adventure to Universal Studios. But if you wish to see both, you'll need 2 days, 1 day at each. Islands has terrific roller coasters! Check with AAA (if you are a member) for discount tickets to both resorts, Disney and Universal. The Disney Store at your local mall also sells discounted Disney World tickets.

Ok, for Disney World there are 4 parks, Downtown Disney, and 2 water parks. You could get a 3 day admission ticket with the added option of water parks & park hopping. This would allow you to spend part of the day at one park and "hop" to another park for the rest of the day. (I don't usually do this, as I like to spend one day at each park- but since you want to do Universal also, this would be a good option for you)
One way that we save money when we go is to share meals. (although I don't what college student appetites are like!) Many of the restaurants offer such large portions that it sharing meals is perfect. (you don't wind up with that "stuffed" feeling)
Many restaurants outside the parks offer pretty good deals, buffets and such.
You will probably want to rent a car because you can find cheap hotels off Disney property. This don't all offer shuttle service to the parks though. Check with the hotels before you make a reservation. (I like to stay on disney property and use their transportation- they even have the Magical Express that picks you up at the airport)
Good luck. And look around, you can find some pretty good deals on hotels, cars, etc.
Have a fun trip!
Downtown Disney doesn't cost anything to go there (no admission) , but it is all shops, restaurants & clubs, so it will end up costing money anyway.

My husband and daughter and I went to Disney this past June. We were there 5 days and spent 1 day each at Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios and Animal Kingdom. We also spent 1 day in downtown Disney. We stayed at the Carribbean Beach resort which was middle-of-the-road price-wise, but a nice, clean place, centrally located, and it had a pool and several eating areas. As far as renting a car, we did, but if you stay at a resort, I believe most of them provide transportation to the parks at no charge (ours did). If you do decide to go with a resort package, I would suggest getting your meals included. The price we paid up front to have meals included was a much better deal that buying our meals separately. I hope this helps some. Have fun! :)

There is a package that will allow you to visit both Universal parks for 5 days for the price of 2. It also comes with a 1 day pass to wet & wild. Then you can even add Sea world if you like.
I would love to go over some package details with you. E-maiul us with your exact travel dates.

go to vacation homes.com and you can find great deals on homes close to both WDW and Universal. I would plan for at least 1 day at each park, 4 in WDW, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM, and Epcot, and the 2 at Universal. The dining plan at WDW is a great deal but I think you have to stay on Disney property. Disney,s value resorts are realy nice for the money. Hope this helps!
