I read on a site about pregnancy, that the baby's heart developes at 5 weeks. When you get a chance to hear the babies heart beat. Is the beating a different beat from yours? Basically can you tell the difference?

The babies heart beat is 2-3 times faster then yours. You can hear it with a doppler they put on your belly

You can definately tell the difference! The babies heart beat is much, much faster, and sounds a lot like a galloping horse.

And while the heart does develop that early, you probably won't be able to hear it until about 10 weeks, give or take.

The heart beat is alot different then yours, it's a more muffled sound and alot faster heart beat. And sometimes when they are listening for it the baby will swim around and it will fade and then get really loud when it swims back under the heart monitor. I got to hear my babies heartbeat at 9 wks but thats b/c I was underweight, most of the time the doctor told me you can't hear it until around 11 to 12 wks. Hope that helps.

Are you pregnant? If you are then, "Congratulations" I think that's great...there's is nothing to compare to the sound of that little baby's heartbeat. You can definitely tell the difference. The baby's heart beats very rapidly compared to yours...usually somewhere between 130-160 bpm, I think. I have been amazed at every heartbeat I have ever heard because it is such a spectacular realization that there is someone growing and living inside of you! And when you hear that unmistakeable sound then you know it's real.

A fetuses heart rate ranges from 110-160 beats per minute. It sounds like a galloping horse. With a doppler the heart rate can be heard starting around 15 weeks.

Yeah! It's really cool when you can finally hear the heartbeat. You can see it on ultrasound around 7-8 weeks, and can hear it on dopplar around 10-12 weeks. It's a fast flutter, and is usually between 130-150 beats per minute. Adults have heartbeats around 60 beats per minute (usually). When the do the dopplar on you at your doctor's office, they will usually hear your heartbeat first, point that out to you, and then they can find the baby's heartbeat. It sometimes takes awhile to find. It's really awesome, though, to hear your little one's heart beat for the first time. Good luck!!!

yes you can tell the difference. Don't buy some of those devices that claim they can help you hear the babies heartbeat cause they suck butt. Ask you doc and they will let you hear it or direct you to a device that works.
