the same as in German or Swahili or any other language, a sister is a sister in all languages, only referred by a diffrent name

Both in tamil and sinhalese older sister are known as akka. In sinhalese a younger sister is known as naṃgī and in tamil younger sister is known as naṅkai. This is all from Wikipedia.

In tamil, thangai for younger sister and akka for older sister.
