I mean it's right but why doesn't a person multiply 5/9 by 32?

Wow, brambly hit on something that just gave me goosebumps. That person made it soo clear, I just keep thinking darn, how does that person do it, please tell me how you do stuff plspls whoever u are.

c = (5/9)(f-32)

Multiply both sides by (9/5)
(9/5)c = (f-32)

Add 32 to both sides
(9/5)c + 32 = f

The reason you don't multiply (5/9) by 32 is because you're multiplying (9/5)*(5/9)*32, and the fractions cancel out.

You don't. The formula is actually 5/9 f-32. That means that you subtract 32 from f and then multiply by 5/9. The parentheses are put to show that F-32 are to be done first. You don't need to put the parentheses.
I will take the second formula. (9/5c+32)5=f=5
9c+32=5
divid both sides by 9
c+32=5/9
subtract 32 to get c
c=5/9f-32

You can multiply 5/9 by 32 as long as you multiply f too (by 5/9) but that would just complicate the equation since 5/9 is an irrational number aka non-terminating number. Try dividing 5 by 9 and you get 0.555...! It'll be hard to multiply that by 32 .. O_O
So to make things simpler, it's better to leave the numbers the way they are and just rearrange them.

What you are doing between formulas, is that in the first one you have solved for c. To get to the other formula, we want to solve for f.

By dividing both sides by (5/9), and then solving for f in the first equation we get the second equation.

c / (5/9) = (5/9)(f-32) / (5/9)

(9/5)c = f - 32

(9/5)c + 32 = f.

The ferenheit scale and the centagrade scale are both linear. The slopes of the lines are either 9/5 or 5/9 and the intercept is 32.

thiese formulas convert degrees of ferenhite in to degrees of centigrade and viceaversa.

If you take twounmarked thermometers, and put them in ice
,both will have mercory at the bottom.

At that point in one (F) you mark 32, and in the other thermometer you mark 0 and call it (C)

Now you raise the tempereture of both to the same value, ans note that height of mercury is same in both, but the number on (F) and (C) scale will be different.

You heat both till boiling and see that height of mercury will top and be same level, but in (F) you mark 212 but in (C) you mark 100.

This explains 100 marks of (C) are equal to 180 marks of (F).
Or 5 marks of (C) is equal to 9 marks of(F). Or each(C) marking is equal to 9/5 (F) marking.

So if you want to convert (C) into (F), multiply each (C) by 9/5
and add 32 to it.
(F) = 9/5(C) +32 Formula NO 1 to find (F) from (C)

Now use the same formula:-

F= 9/5C + 32
Subtract 32 on both sides

F-32 = 9/5C +32 -32
(F-32) = 9C/5
Multiply both sides by 5/9

5/9 x(F-32) = 5/9 x 9/5C simplyfy bothsides

5/9(F-32) = C use this formula to find (C) from (F).
C=5/9(F-32)

I hope you will understand the basic concept.

take the equation from celcius to farenheight.
multiply both sides by 9 and then divide by 5 to get:
(9/5) C = f - 32
then add 32 to both sides to get:
(9/5)C + 32= f
