...and i dont want to loose or gain weight to get to an even size :-)- i am aware that some companies make 37 waist inch pants like lands end..just interested in knowing whats easier for my not so good seamstress around the block.

For the small amount you need I would think that having your pants taken in would be easier.

you always want to take any item in verses letting them out. The original seam almost always shows. Then when you do let them out there is no place else to go. When you buy a larger size and take them in you can always let them out again if the seamstress doesn't cut offf the excess fabric.

Buy the 38 and have it taken in! It ALWAYS is better to have something taken in and it is MUCH more likely to fit you properly.

It is better to take them in. Sometimes there is not enough fabric in the seam allowance to let them out.
