I get pain after every bowl movement and ejaculation. The docters say it is just something I have to put up with unless I want that testicle removed. I also don't know if this would effect any sex life I may have since I have yet to try that (I'm an old virgin).

Normally a surgery for varicocoele performed 16 years ago doesn’t leave that sort of a pain. There may be some infection down there and for this it would be worthwhile if you could consult another doctor. A similar course of antibiotics that is prescribed for PID in the females (an empirical therapy), would probably work for you. If you really are a virgin, it is OK, otherwise you may have to get your partner treated as well otherwise your infection and pain may recur. Please use a scrotal support as this would help in easing your pain and don’t forget to take the antibiotic course. Cheer up.
