I scored a 118 on an IQ test a few minutes ago, but as you are reading this it may be a few weeks ago, and I feel crappy because of it. People have always told me, "Oh your smart, wow!" but now this is a very bad, emotion drowser! I mean, come on, I have an what I believe to be a 4.8-4.9 G.P.A. the first week of 9th grade and I'm still trying to bring that up. Am I smart or not?

First of all, intelligence is not a concrete thing. Because one, there are thousands of different KINDS of intelligent and two, those that were never thought to be smart in there time (Einstein) actually were. Intelligence, geniusness, to me is the ability to see things the way no one else does. And to use it.
And a GPA is only your grade point average, obviously. I have known people with even higher GPAs that are as thick as stones. Your GPA only measures how much you DO, not what you KNOW.
Also, unless you took an insufferable 2 hour test in a university, you probably didn't take a standard IQ test. Ones on the internet, though some are good, many aren't.
I am not telling you that you AREN'T smart; I am just giving you a few things to consider.
Best,

IQ tests vary & people can train themselves to get higher scores by practising the tests/type of questions but I think you might be attaching too much importance to this measure of intelligence - people who have interesting life experiences & informed opinions are generally much better company than some guy who turns up to a party & states he has an IQ of 150 (most folks will instantly think he's a total d*** for mentioning it !!!)

Tests and grades are only a measure of standardized smarts. There are different levels of intelligence that depend on your access to knowledge and how you choose to use it.
I will say it's not the smartest move to ask a bunch of people who don't know you to determine if your smart.

Don't worry about smart status....if you're on Yahoo answers asking an intelligent question you are within the intelligent range to function well in society. You communicated the question well, just try the test again... :)

I can't believe you are asking that - if I had that low a result I wouldn't be broadcasting it around the world....dumm ****.....lol.....
whats a 4.8 - 4.9 anyways? The fact that you need to ask kinda indicates that you are as stupid as it seems

OK. but really tho IQ is not always the right way to tell if a person smart or not. really depends on the person.

A 118 means you're marginally less smart than me and I'm pretty f***** smart so don't to be too hard on yourself.

I'm not as smart as the guy who scored 148, but taking into consideration my score 131, I'm still pretty damn smart!

I think you are coming out as an average .
I think i read somewhere that in the UK 114 was a good average
in MENSA terms. Please remember this can change on a weekly basis.
