Too late - they don't know how to use it!
Ok, maybe not....
I try not to answer questions that are obviously homework questions, or at least I try not to answer them outright. I might give a useful website where they can find the answer they need, or give a couple pieces of information to get them started solving their problem. But as a teacher myself, I can't help but to help!
Oh, and when you consider the number of wrong answers on here....

If you sift through all the people who post garbage answers and cut and paste ten pages of unrelated junk, you'll see quite a few folks who try to explain the problem in a way that will get the questioner to understand the process, so they can do it themselves.
Any kids who cheat on their homework and tests through Yahoo are probably not real likely to have all that bright a future in the physics field in the first place.

I suspect that there are both kinds of questions asked: someone just looking to copy an answer, and someone really needing help on a problem. I try never to give final answers on the questions, insead give the process and maybe general formulas. The way I see it, those who just want the answers will find them somewhere, but if they don't learn the subject they will eventually fail. Those who really need help and want to learn deserve the help. If I can help one person understand a problem or gain an insight into a subject, I think it's worth it even if ten others just copy it.

Homework is an outdated an infeffective tool of reinforcing knowledge anyway. SO I say go ahead and ask on yahoo answers. It shows you at least know how to find the right answer rather than make up or guess at a wrong one.

Yeah, I don't answer questions on here if they post several in a row that look similar, or ones that use overly complex wording, or ones that ask things that no one would actually be interested in if it weren't for an assignment.
But if they don't figure the problems out themselves eventually, they'll just fail the tests. That's what I keep telling myself. Of course, some of these questions look like test questions.

I agree with you! I can always tell when its about 2:30pm on the east coast...the school/homework questions start rolling in......It amazes me that they are too lazy to open up a book and do it the old fashion way! It kinda makes me laugh at the same time because we (Yahoo.answers) won't be there when they are taking a test in the classroom!

A. Your idea would be cheating,
B. I think millions of people, adults and children alike, are doing homework for lazy students.
C. It will only help if.... (scroll down)
The person who one is doing the homework for reviews the homework and uses the "finished" homework as an answer key to see what he/she has done wrong.
