There are plenty of MBA programs that are ready to take you the minute you have your Bachelor's. But unfortuantely they are anxious to get you because they are desperate for students. The MBA programs that you really want to get in to, the one where the students graduating get huge salaries when they graduate... those ones take in only the best students. And they prefer to accept people who have actual successful experience as business managers and leaders... people who have shown they have talent. Then after they finish their MBA at one of the top schools like Michigan, Penn, Duke, Harvard, etc... they are great recruits who are going to lead their company to greater success.

You won't get into one of these top programs until you have gone into business and shown that you are a leader. Then they will want you.

The top MBA programs want you to have 3-5 years of experience. Those who get into the top programs with less experience have something special going on -- like working overseas or in an unusual profession.

If you want to get an MBA right away -- you can do it. You might even be able to do it at a decent school where you will learn something. But you won't be able to do it at a great school where you will get a great job.

My opinion is that it isn't worth getting an MBA unless you get a good one.

My advice: Get a good or interesting job. In three or four years apply to a few great schools. Then get a great job.

You SHOULD wait until your have practical experience in the field of business, since much of the coursework in the MBA program relies upon a pretty broad understanding of specific markets, business strategies, and economic situations.

When you seek employment, I suggest looking for a fast-track management trainee position, in which you are exposed to a wide variety of the company's aspects. For instance, as a bank officer, I worked in mortgages, which included account exec (basically the inside contact person for a customer), Private Banking, closings, audit, and pre-underwriting, all in the course of 2 years, which afforded me the opportunity to see the entire spectrum, except for the outside sales position. These experiences were vital whenever I needed to answer questions about risk management, goodwill costs, real estate law, and mortgage consolidations and extensions.
