It won;t matter who the Tigers face.. their starters are better than anything the Mets and Cards throw out there.. (And the Tigers swept the Cards in interleague play this season, going 16-3 against the NL....
The AL rotation
Robertson is the worst at 13-13 and a 3.84 ERA (in the AL, mind you)
Verlander is 17-9 and 3.63
Rogers is 17-8 and 3.84
and Bonderman is 14-8 with a 4.08 ERA..
Robertson and Rogers are both lefties and both the METS and Cards struggle against left handed pitching not to mention the Tigers have a coupe of good lefties out of the bullpen.. For the Mets, the only starters currently being used in the playoffs with an ERA under 4.00 are Maine and Glavine.. and the Tiger hitter did very well against left handed pitching this season.. For St. Louis.. Carpenter is the only starter under 4.00 and if the series goes seven.. he could find his way to the mound in a do or die situation, affecting his next starting time table, should the Cards advance.. On paper (and it's not played on paper) no matter who the NL throws up there, it's a mismatch..

Like the others have already stated, the rest will only help the Tigers. Some of the Tigers players are suffering from injuries. The added time will give them time to recover and be ready to play.
They will still be practicing and training, this too will only help them. One of the main reasons they beat the A's is because they play good aggressive and fundamentally sound baseball.
I would like to see them play the Cards but, I think it is going to be the Mets. Regardless of who the Tigers play it will be a lot of fun to watch the Tigers win!

I am a die hard Mets fan, and I really think they will blow past the Cardinals the next two games. However, the Tigers are different. If the Mets are going to win the WS, they'd do it in 7. But I think the Tigers are a much better team than them when it comes to pitching, and pitching is the key to winning championships. I'm gonna say Tigers in 5.
Sorry Mets.

I want the Mets to come back on the cards just becuase that would jsut be awesome for a team like that to come back on a team taht has been doing decent all year. I still however believe the Tigers are too hot to handle right now and that the week off will not effect how they play.

The week off will help them more than hurt them.
That is 7 whole days for The Tigers to rest up.
Our pitching is strong, and will be stronger because of it.
The offense may take a game or two to get back in the swing of things, but it wont matter.
The Tiger's pitching staff will hold off any threats.
Another thing to consider is JIm Leyland isnt going to let The Tigers get "rusty", you can rest assured that he is holding drills and practice and more practice and more drills.
I hope we play St. Louis.

I think the rest will be great for the Tigers. Chances are, they'll be facing the Mets but they can and will win the series! They are peaking at the best possible time and it will take them over the top; no team can beat them now.

As a Yankee fan, I am still ticked-off the Yanks were beaten by a better team. I think the Tigers, Heaven forgive me for saying this, will be the Cardinals in 5.

It will not cool them off, if anything, it will give the pitching and bullpen extra time to rest their arms and pitch even stronger in the world series, and i believe they will play the mets and win in 6

The Tigers will be rested, whoever it is they play will be tired. I think that the NLCS will go seven games and that will benefit the Tigers.
