i'm living in maui and i sure felt it! nobody got hurt and there were no fatalities, oh except in the big island, i think 2 people had minor injuries. only structural damages occured in the big island and the quake was felt as far away as oahu. i think the news made it more dramatic than it really was.

I did. I live on Oahu on the eastside of the island. It was a strong earthquake, especially compared to what we're used to. I remember the radio station (the only one that was up, sadly) saying that it was reported by USGS as a 4.8 magnitude... and I was like "What? No way!" but it was corrected and now it's reported as a 6.7 magnitude, which it felt more like. Although the only thing I haven't heard the national news address is that there were actually 3 separate earthquakes; the first 2 within a matter of minutes and the 3rd about an hour or so later.
I didn't get to see the news on Sunday, since our power was out and we didn't get it back until Monday morning, so the news I saw was a day late, but it really was pretty accurate from what I saw this morning on CNN and stuff. They didn't overexagerate, for once and it was pretty right on.
Now, I just wish we could find out what caused it because I'm really curious to know. Thank God there were no casualties.

My cousin and best friend live out there and they sure felt it. She said it sounded like a helicopter was going over and then everything started to shake. They were without power for 15 hrs. No hot water to shower in ect. The news is accurate for once.
