Emo actually stands for emotive hardcore. Technically, emo is a music genre, but the style that goes along with it is also being called emo, another name for that fashion is scene. It's like any other trend out there, but mainly only the people who listen to emo or any subgenre of that music are the ones dressing like it.
I get labled as emo everyday. Which doesn't bother me, the only thing that is really annoying is that everyone thinks we're cutters and whine and cry all the time about everything. Which is not true, it's a fashion, it has nothing to do with the actual people who dress in that fashion.

Emo is not the new goth. It seems that nobody can agree on what 'emo' is, so attention-grabbers can dress emo and listen to Dashboard Confessional and get away with it acting spoiled and tormented. (By no means do I mean all emo kids are like that. I'm referring to the brats only.)

emo is short for emotional...its not as edgey as goth.

heres the truth:
these ppl jut do thid for attention they are all just whiny bratty kids with severe depression. thats all. and i should know im in highschool and i see em all the time.
