Money orders are trackable. Start with what kind of money order it was. Hopefully you kept the receipt. If you did, they can find out if it was cashed, and if it was, who cashed it, and where.
If it was not cashed, they will refund your money, and put a stop on the money order.
If you do not have the receipt, you may be able to get some help from whomever you bought the money order from. If you know what day you bought the money order, approximately what time, and the amount, they may be able to find out the serial number on the money order.

It may depend on where you bought the money order
If you bought the money order at a post office, the post office has a fine tracking system and replacement policy. You will have to file some paperwork (which is FREE of charge) and your receipecant will have to give a statement that he never received or cashed the money order. Which if he didn't no problem - if he states one thing BUT did another he can be charged by the post office which is a federal offense. That is why I also buy postal money orders - less hassles.
Walmart has their own replacement system as do other stores.

You can find out from the place you purchased a money order at if it was cashed or not. If not you can get them to stop payment. if it was cashed they can tell you what account cashed it. You can turn this info over to ebay for help. If this individual did not receive the m.o. or cash it you can establish a paypal account w/a credit card to submit payment. But you better make sure that this person didn't cash the m.o.

Keep that receipt and tell him you are going to make a complaint to Ebay. There is info on the back of the receipt that will help you make an inquiry. The ebay system is really skewed toward the customer and you might be able to get help through them. Don't put the feedback out there until you have this resolved for sure.
Good luck to you! ( And be businesslike and don't call names or make accusations - you are more likely to get the seller to work with you.)

You're probably out the money, but you can file a complaint with eBay. Its always possible there have been other such complaints and this could result in the person losing their eBay privileges. It's reasonably certain your money order has been cashed and the person who got it is laughing. Would have been better had you used PayPal.

Shoulda used PayPal!! If your money order is now lost in the mail, you can't do anything. Sign up for a PayPal account, it's the quickest, easiest, and safest way to ensure your payment is sent or received, and gives you insurance on it too incase you don't receive your item.
