It could be some hardware that is failing (hard drive, video card, RAM, etc). You may want to take it in to get it diagnosed or write down some of the error numbers and search for them on the web (if your computer ever starts up).

This could be any number of problems. Read the ton of words carefully. It will have advice on how to not have this happen in the future. Have you changed anything on your system lately? Such as, new hardware, or, new software?

sounds like a hardware malfuncition or an incompatibility issue ... is this a recent occurrence??? if it is just a recent thing I'd say eith the power pack is failing (replace it) or a stick of ram is faulty .(if you have two sticks of ram take one out and try running with just one ... if you get the same prob with one and not the other ...replace the bad stick)

Most likely your registry has corrupt files, you will need to do a scan of the pc and see if there is any spy ware, adware or the like on it. Try SUPERAntiSpyware - you can get it from cnet.com

How old is it? Could be a fan stopped working and it's overheading..... that would cause it to shut down. Is it XP or 98?
