None of the wive tales are actually accurate. You will have people SWEARING up and down that x or y worked for all 20 of their children, and then someone else swearing up and down that it didn't work for ANY of their 20 children.

The only sure ways to know are a) amniocentisis (dangerous if not desperately needed) and b) by giving birth.

Ultrasounds done after 16 weeks are often accurate, but they can never tell you 100 percent. Sometimes it's pretty obvious, but because of other little floating parts and twists and turns it's just not for sure ever till you have the baby.

The position of your stomach does not prove one way or another what you are having.. that is an old wives tale. The only way to medically know for sure is to ask after you have an an amniocentisis ( a precedure they do around 28 weeks that checks the baby for problems like genetic disorders) or if you don't want to risk that procedure (and it is optional) you will also be asked if you want an ultrasound around the same time. If baby cooperates the tech can tell you if the baby is a boy or a girl.

Positioning is an old wives tale. However It rang ture for me and I have had one girl and one boy. If you are wanting to find out by ultrasound you wil have to wait until about 16 weeks. That may even be a little early for the technician to see.

Those are old wives tales. Not usually accurate btw.
At around 16-20 weeks you should get an ultrasound, ask the doc to tell you the sex.

it really doesnt matter how you carry. Everyone said I was having a girl and I had a boy. They can usually tell with an ultrasound around 16-20 weeks

No thats just a myth. The best time to have an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby is around 21 weeks.

Usually that true - but it is an old wives tale.

You can determine gender during an ultrasound as early as 16 weeks, but typically closer to 20.

The position is an old wives tale..... you usually find out between 18 and 22 weeks (most docs that is, some will do it earlier, some later).
