We had it at mechanics yesterday they changed hoses cost $150 didnt fix problem, back there again today they are changing coil but are not sure that this is the problem will cost another $150.... yet dont guarantee it will fix the problem - sometimes backfires on start, other times just driving along and suddenly runs rough and then backfires and blows the air filter cover off then will drive ok again until next time.... anyone got any ideas sick of going to mechanics that charge to do things that dont fix the problem very frustrating, Like I said the car ia a real lemon, had a new radiation system put in then motor blew up , replaced motor only been 3500km since new motor, was serviced at 500 km and not due again until 5000km, is it something to do with lpg system...

We have this same problem with our company pickups. It would blow the air filters off and on some it would crack the intake. The way our mechanics fixed this problem was to adjust the air/fuel mixture, change plugs, wires, rotor and distributer cap . Sometimes the distributer cap was cracked enough the firing would jump, causing a backfire. I hope this helps

First thing to do is panic, PC Artinstall has been prowling about on his new bike. He was specifically interested in my Bentley and questioned Cuthbertson at some length, well as long as you can interview a congenital half wit. Can't think of any quick way old chap but I can send Cuthbertson over with a bucket and brush, he will also get rid of any 'embarrassing' body parts

Check your ignition system. Check the dist. cap for any cracks or tracing. If nothing obvious, then you may need to do a compression test or a leakdown test, You may have a bad intake valve, bad valve timing, distributor may be off a tooth as well. Check the timing on your motor.

sounds like the air/fuel mixture is off , my propane ( that's what we call LPG in the colonies) powered pickup has done that on occasion and I've cured it by adjusting the mixture, find a mechanic that specializes in this fuel and have him /her check the mixture and the timing
