I am a 30 year old male, thin but athletic. I made a bet to a friend that I could pass as a REAL girl this Halloween. I have to dress up as a girl of less that 30 years old! I guess that the only way I can REALLY look like a girl is if a real girl helps me out. I need advice and help! Are there any companies that do this stuff, like the special effects from the movies? The bet is HUGE and I don't want to loose! I don't know what to do.

First thing I would suggest is, either pluck your eyebrows or cover them up. You can use face putty and spirit glue (available at most Halloween stores or theater supply places) to cover your brows. Then pencil in some thin, girly brows.

Everyone has already said everything you need to do so I will tell you what not to do:
Please do not go overboard on the make up, women really don't wear as much as men think they do, especially eye shadow.
Do not wear a cheap tangled wig, it will not look real;if your hair is at all long I recommend straightening and/or curling it. Your hair will look most realistic.
Don't wear a short skirt, that could be a disaster waiting to happen. Make it a longer skirt or dress or pants.
Don't wear heels, it is impossible for men to walk in them, try flats. Or even flip flops, but only if you get a pedicure.
And finally don't talk in a fake girl voice, just try to speak softer or simply smile sweetly instead of talking.
Good luck, I hope you win the bet!

Starting from the top-

Face-
Yeah, you're going to have to cover up your 5:00 shadow, thin your eyebrows, lose the sideburns. A theater department student will be able to help with the cover-up, but I'd suggest you talk to your sister, girlfriend, wife, or the lady at the makeup counter when it comes to the color you apply to your face (eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, etc).

Hair-
Unless you have a very dainty face to begin with, I'd strongly suggest extensions or a REALLY good wig- shoulder-length will hopefully be enough length. (Match the color to your eyebrows, or a little lighter.) Even a woman with a less-than feminine face looks butch when she wears her hair short.

Top/shirt-
Wear a turtleneck to cover up if you have a prominent adam's apple. Don't wear a scarf- VERY few women under 30 wear scarfs around their necks... unless it's to hide a hicky... and even then, they end up looking dorky! A C-cup bra should do nicely. I'd suggest actually buying a bra for yourself- for fitting purposes, the # part of a bra's size is your chest measurement in inches.

Hands-
See if you can get a manicure- exfoliate what roughness you can, and don't be afraid of lotion- see if you can find a good quality "intensive care" type to use for a day or two before Halloween. Trim/push back cuticles, maybe even paint- A french mani always looks classy!...

Bottom (Pants/skirt)
I'd go with pants or if you have particularly shapely legs, shave and wear tights with a short skirt... Be sure to "control" Mr Happy, though- wear a cup, no matter what you end up wearing!

Feet/Shoes-
I wouldn't wear ANYTHING open-toed. Guys' feet just won't do it! If you insist on wearing any kind of heel, PRACTICE walking in them!!! and remember that girls don't walk with their knees out- almost brush them against each other when you walk...

Act-
Watch women walk- from every angle. Analyze how they use/move their hands, head, etc... take notes if you have to, then when you're home, in private, practice... If you've got a female friend that's a good sport, have her help you get the manerisms just right- overexageration can be a dead giveaway on the 31st!

Edit- (was thinking about this over the weekend...)
Had a thought- This is halloween!! No self-respecting girl would go out without a costume... Go as a 25-yr-old woman going as a.... whatever... witch? That could make it pretty easy to cover up your masculinity...

Ok here goes, make sure that you shave very close your face, neck, chest, arms and legs (if you're wearing a dress)., apply a heavy base coat of foundation, but make sure it matches your skin tone (no ugly line around your chin) and go over it with a good power. Don't go overboard with the eye make-up and blush, keep it simple unless you want to look like a hooker. Only use false eyelashes if yours are short and if you do, get the "real" woman's size, not the drag queen size. This part may hurt, but if you want your best chance of passing, you'll have to pluck your eyebrows and any kingsize nose hairs eeeewwwww. (it sucks being beautiful). Get a quality wig with a modern style. Choose an outfit that flatters your thin body type. If you don't have a butt, stay away from clingy outfits (unless you buy fake butt panties, yes, they really sell them). Wear a bra and don't go hooter crazy, just add enough so that you look like you have them, not like you are Dolly Pardon's sister. Find shoes and a purse that match your outfit and PRACTICE walking. Don't swing your *** like a five dollar hooker, just sway while taking smaller steps. Cross your legs at the ankles when possible and avoid as many manly manurisms as possible (no penis adjusting). Wear two pair of nylons to soften the look of your legs. Get your nails done at a salon if possible, if not, grab a gal pal and have her do a quick nail tip application. I don't know how husky your voice is, but either feign a "sore throat" or practice a sexy low female voice. Good luck.

I had a friend who is gay and loved to dress up as a woman on Halloween. He was in the theatre department at a local university. You could offer a college theatre student some money to help you pull it off. Also, there are some performers who dress as women - they buy the hose, shave their legs, buy the high heel shoes and shave and cut back their side burns - remember women do not have side burns. If you have a very prominent adams apple you are going to want a blouse that will cover your neck and still be sexy - wear a skirt and some type of blouse that would not accentuate your lack of curves. Buy a bra - about a size C and stuff it with socks (yes socks). Good luck. But you are going to need help with putting on makeup so that you look natural.

Hi!

You are going to need to wax your face and arms... possibly your legs (unless you plan on wearing tights or pants/jeans)... make sure you also get all the hair off your toes/hands...

Get your nails done... manicure and pedicure... go red...

Get your hair done... probably would be good to get extensions... It is hard to find a good wig, so either go short or get the extensions...

Invest in some decent make-up... Go to Dillards or JC Penny's and let the ladies at the make-up counter show you how make-up is done...

Get some nice purfume while you are there...

Go modest on the clothing... Go to a Learners or Rave or someplace at the mall and have the clothing girls help you choose an outfit... also invest in some nice shoes. If I were you, go for sexy boots (no pumps, men have a hard time walking in them). Boots are more comfortable than high heels...

Good Luck on your bet... I hope you win...

Best Wishes...
T.

Wear a scarf around your neck to hide your adams apple... and practice talking softly... don't try to fake a woman's voice, you will lose.
:)

What about a place like Glamour Shots for the make-up.
Get a good dress & wig. And practice your best female voice.
