What was the reason Black September killed the Olympic ppl?

They took those people hostage because of a vendetta. They wanted their people released from the jails in the country of the hostages. I get confused which group was from where. Basically they wanted to bring attention to their cause that the terrorists wanted the people of their country taken prisoner in the country of the hostages released.
