I've had a savings account at ingdirect.com for two years. They are legit. All you need is a checking account that links to the savings account. That's all! No fees, higher interest rates than most, no minimums. The only catch is once you deposit into the account you can't withdraw it for ten days, or somewhere close to that.
If you have questions, visit their website, and call their 800 number. They have excellent customer service!

I've had an account with them for a few years and they really have no fees. There is no drama. They only issue is that if this is the only savings account you have and you need the money right away it's gonna take a few days to see it in your regular bank account. But other than that it's pretty great.

If you EVER have ANY doubt about a Bank or Insurance company, call your state office of Banking and Insurance Regulators. Your local seenator's office can help you find the number.
But, honestly, I think that ING is on the up and up!
