if i have a problem that tell me i need to find the displacement from [2,7] what do i do?

Displacement means "How far would you need to go to get where you end up". Ignore the position function, just look at the endpoints and calculate the distance. Be careful if you're graphing with time or a horizontal distance.

With the information given, I'd say replace your X with 2, then with 7. Either that, or the displacement from 2 to 7 is 5.

Displacement depends on the end position. For example, going in a circle would be 0 displacement. So, it depends on the position function that you have. Or else you don't have a position function, but rather acceleration or velocity and you must integrate to get to position function.
