Because there is a lot of immaturity on this site. Also, there are a lot of people that have gotten familiar with each other and will "joke around"--a lot of people construe this as "stupid" or "mean" as well.

It's anonymous and since no one has to actually physically confront anyone, it's very easy to be rude, uncouth, and in general a complete jerk.
