I have always been afraid of the dark and always afraid of being alone too! Like for instance when my husband is at school ( night) I do not like it, I mean I have a 2 1/2 year old to keep me occupied right? I just love having him around. Probaly becuase he was gone to Iraq for a year that made me want to be with him now all the time and that was 2 almost 3 years ago!

I'm not afraid of the dark. I eat the dark for breakfast. Haha. There's not much to be afraid about the dark... It's just an absence of light... however, being afraid of what's IN the dark is a fear that I possess...

There's no such thing as being afraid of the dark. We are afraid of what the dark holds for us. All those people who say they aren't. I bet you would if you went up to the mountains where there's no light whatsoever. I bet you wouldn't like it. We only rid ourselves of the fear when we know the area well enough to know what is in it and what is not. We do not fear the dark but the unknown which it potentially hides.

I am...still @ 49 years old, I'm afraid of the dark. I keep a night light in the hall and the bathroom. The reason goes back to abuse in my childhood.

I was when I was a kid. My dad would always say " there's nothing there that wasn't there in the day light." sometimes he would say "if any thing gets you it will let you go when it gets light and it sees your face." LOL I do know how it feels, and it is scary, but I grew to learn the dark won't hurt you..

Back to back, dark to light...the light casting a shadow...an encasing, rather a shell of what the light once was...
