Ive been thinking of purchasing a sewing machine to do minor household repairs for awhile. I thought of a used one , but i didnt realize they were as cheap as 80 dollars new. I saw one advertized in the Aldis ad, but i want something i am able to get parts for 20 years down the road, and is going to last. I seen a nice Brother brand one on the Target website, but i also seen a nice Singer. The Brother , and the Singer brands have a 25 year limited warranty while the Aldis one has 2 years.

I've had my Kenmore for about 20 years. I do more than mending on my machine. It really takes a beating because I travel a lot with my husband and the machine comes with us. Singer and Brother machine are also good. By the way I've only had to have it repaired once since I've owned it. And it was less than $40.00 to repair it and have it cleaned also.

I have a Brother & love it. I've also used Kenmore & Singer and they're good too. Determine what features you want/need & will actually use. Let that steer you on pricing. I've NEVER heard of Aldis. Stick with a brand name, much safer & easier to have repaired. Good luck!

I wish someone would teach me HOW to use a machine. Its probably the only one I can't operate. It looks like fun...I think...
