Both are bunts attempting to get the runner at third home. In a suicide squeeze, the runner goes with the pitch, while in the safety, the runner waits until the ball is bunted before he heads for home.

Suicide squeeze is when the runner takes off when the pitcher is at the top of his balance point. The runner does this so that he does not tip off the defense. If the hitter gets the bunt down, it is nearly impossible to stop. The safety squeeze is rarely used, but the Rays did it to perfection last night. The hitter usually has to push the ball up the first base line and the runner anticipates the bunt but does not leave early. It takes a much better bunt in order to get the run home.

in a safety the runner on third waits to see if the ball is bunted. if it is he can go if it is far enough.

THEY are both bunts,but one the guy runs before the batter bunts the ball.
