Hey there!

I actually have (and am using) a Sony Vaio laptop. It was bought around January and with tax, my husband and I paid around $1400.00 for it. It had more memory than some of the other models and a better graphics card (I'm not sure what model # it is) so that's why it was a little pricey. It's a great laptop! You might want to try www.bestbuy.com and even www.overstock.com----overstock sometimes offers electronics at a discounted price. Hope this helps, and good luck with the laptop shopping!! :)
