I'm not looking for ourageously racist answers. Just describe one or more stereotypes about African Americans that you may either possess or have been exposed to.

Don't tell me you actually think racism doesn't exist anymore.

It means to be diverse in looks, personality and lifestyle, there are always going to be stereotypes as long as people are divided base on ridiculous things such as skin color.

I've had the misfortune of living in some very small-minded places, so I've been exposed to many of the stereotypes. I feel ashamed typing these, but here goes....

1. African-Americans are lazy and/or stupid
2. African-Americans love their chicken and watermelon
3. African-Americans all speak in ebonics or street slang

I'm sure there are many more, but I feel bad just repeating these ones. It's interesting to see what other people are saying about this topic, especially the division between Caucasians and African-Americans. Good question.

In modern day America is it still hard to be black or African American. I am from the caribbean but I went to college, worked, and lived in America and it was not easy. I can remember going for a job interview at a accounting firm and when they look at my qualifications they said that I was over qualified but a white girl that was in the college as me went to that same interview and got the job but she turn it down. She said that the manager said he be dam if he ever hire a black person not in his company.

So it is still hard for black or African Americans. I am so sick and tired of playing saying they are lazy and that kind of crap because believe it or not go to a mobile home camp and what will you find white people that are also lazy. Both race have good and bad. We are the ones to make better for ourselves. No one else will.

In 1984 I escaped from Communist country in Europe. I was accepted as a refugee in United Nations camp. There I had option to choose any country in the world. I always had dreams to live in USA. However I knew that I wouldn't like to live surrounded by black people as I wasn't use to them. In the country I grew up we don't have any.
For the past 22 years I'm in Sydney. I do not consider myself a racist. One of my best friends is African American & her skin is really black.

But still people think of blacks as tuff and mean....i dont! well there are different types of people...so dont give a f**k about this sh!t. Well because of Condolezza Rice, Martin Luther Kin Jr. Africans have actually gained more rights!
