I am not personally fond of long distance relationships because they are very hard, and the loneliness can sometimes be unbearable. The idea that you won't see the person for weeks, months, or even years tears at you and drains you. Keeping the love and passion alive is even harder than in a close distance relationship. Making it easy is not easy, and there is no easy way out. It can be really hard and tearing. You'll cry constantly for hours thinking about the person who you love and how the two of you will be (or are) separated. Loneliness is what kills you the most. However, i also believe that love (particularly true love) can transcend all barriers and i believe that even distance cannot kill true love. If the couple is truly in love, it is only a temporary burden that will bring future rewards even greater than either party could imagine. I am personally against LDR's, but i think that true love can survive them.

I need the physical part of a relationship, long distance would not work for me unless I saw him once a week or at least once a month. Or if we had an open relationship.

depending on the distance and how serious it is, you can either be deceived or have a dream come true.
I know and have know some that it worked for a while, then over. Others for a long time, and over at the end, and some got married and lasted who knows what.
