depends on the countries and places. here in my country, it doesnt matter what gender you have, as long as they perform and handle their duties and responsibilities perfectly, has the ability the know how of their job description., in some companies a minimal discrimination of gender, but still the company cant kick out the employee because of good performance. we have the labor department and strict compliance of labor laws, if ever the employee had a problem to the said company, the labor department will take action and implement the laws.

Your gender will tell something about you when you apply for work. Usually women is not preferrable in a job which requires a lot of strenght and pressure but preferrable to work as a teacher while men is not preferrable to work as someone who has to take care of the customer.
