im running an AMD xp 3000+ CPU with 1.5 gigs of ram, an ATI Radeon X800 Sapphire GTO 256 Mb AGP video card with 1 IDE and 1 SATA hard drive, and 2 IDE DVD RW drives, i need a new Socket A AMD CPU, faster than what i got now, can anyone sugest anything faster than my 2.1 GHz CPU with a FSB of 200 MHz and a bus speed of 400MHz

you could always get an xp3200+, but going to that from your current 3000+ isn't worth it. I'd say hang on for a few more months, there will be many price cuts, with the quad-core coming, so that means better bang for your buck.. besides, what you have now is still a very good computer so you're not desperate.

You will not get a faster Socket A. To upgrade your cpu, you gotta get a new mainboard.
