Are there any programs you guys know of that will make it extreamly difficult to recover data off a hard drive. I've formated the drive so it seems like notthing is there. But from what I understand data can still be recovered. If I do a low level format will that make it difficult. Will a full format make it difficult as well.

Formating a drive is the only way you can delete files on a computer and be 110% sure that someone cant recover any info on the drive.

use fdisk. create a floppy system disk with command.com, and fdisk.exe file on it. boot from the floppy, run fdisk. there is an option there to remove the partition. all files are stored on the partition of a hardisk drive. removing that partition removes everything and cannot be recovered anymore.

If I am not mistaken a file has to be over writen 7 times to be deleated by milltary standards. (Dont try to reformat 7 times) But if your freind is not some supper geek he probably cant see it.

a full scale format will do the trick.... EVERY LAST THING is erased on a complete format.....
