you forgot about andre miller, marcus camby, and nene. after the drama that occured in the playoffs with karl and martin, only time will tell as to if the nuggets will be serious contenders. hopefully injuries won;t plague them just like last season and the season before. but the west is loaded and teams are getting better w/ their newly revamped roster. i dont know who denver drafted. but who's to say, if carmelo can have an all star season, camby playing like he did back in NY, martin playing like the martin from NJ and be happy w/ karl, and most importantly; everyone is healthy, nuggets might be serious contenders

Keys for the Nuggets to start winning more ballgames and get past the first round of the playoffs:

1. A healthy Marcus Camby
2005-2006 November "MVP" stats:
1) 19 pts, 14 reb, 2 blocks
2) 23 pts, 17 reb, 6 blocks
3) 20 pts, 11 reb, 6 blocks
4) 17 pts, 22 reb, 7 blocks
5) 21 pts, 21 reb, 4 blocks
6) 24 pts, 14 reb, 6 blocks

2. Kenyon Martin on/off-court issues, especially with Coach George Karl (but as of this point, it is settled). He did mention he will make sure fans get their money's worth this upcoming season.

3. Melo's improved game. The World Championship experience helped ALL players, especially Melo, considering he was the heart and soul of that team. He lifted them up even on a losing cause.

4. JR Smith. In preseason games, Smith has filled up Denver's void in the 2 spot, particulary from the 3. In one game, he shot 4/7 from beyond the arc. His defense needs some work, though.

5. Andre Miller will certainly benefit from the high-flying duo of K-Mart and JR, adding more to his assists.

6. Stay away from the "first-game curse". You do know what that is right.

Talent wise the Nuggets are actually good enough to win a championship, but talent isn't enough. As far as making the playoffs, that SHOULD not be a problem because they SHOULD win their division unless Seattle have another year like they had 2 seasons ago.

everyone is a contender to be in the playoffs, but if you mean will they make the playoffs i think it all depends on how much kmart can and will do for his team this season.
