Yes it would, but you cannot run every day. You need days off for your muscles to recover and rebuild. It is more advantageous to take time off, your body will be stronger quicker and increase your endurance dramatically. And once you are comfortable with 2 miles, you should add mileage. 2 miles is probably only 20mins worth of exercise, so more mileage would be more beneficial. If you want to play hockey for 2 hours non-stop, you should run for at least an 1hour when you do run.

Well, contrary to popular belief - no it won't. It will help initially, if you have never run before, but you will soon plateau out if you do not vary the routine.

For endurance you need to run for 30 to 40 mins 3 x per week then have one long slow run of 60mins then rest.

As you get fitter - introduce some speed work or hill running. This kind of regime will help lots!

Running 2 miles a day will do a series of things for you. It will help build your stamina, it will help you tone muscles in your legs and mid section, it will give you the ability to run longer by increasing your durability. Basically, running will help you stay healthy, whether you are playijng hockey or not.
