The day that Christianity seizes control of our government, we will be no different than any other theocracy. The bill of rights will seize to exist, with the first amendment being the first casualty. Tyranny would replace what shreds of democracy we have left and ignorance enforced by law would replace scientific progress. The dark ages will have returned.

And this is coming from a devout Methodist. I respect other people, and resent the idea of imposing religious beliefs on other people. That being said, moral standards are something that governments NEED, and often people confuse this (including our president!) with the incorporation of religious values in our government.

The original intent of seperation of church and state was to protect the church from government and not vice versa. Therefore, the way that it has been twisted is B.

A) Very, very GOOD
The founders very wisely realized that the best way to protect faith and spirituality was to not dirty it up by mixing it with politics. We are still perfectly free to elect leaders who are very relgious, but that's not the same as giving the government the power to dictate religion.

We have separation of church and state. We always have had that separation. This doesn't however mean that in order to have true separation that we remove God completely from our lives. That is taking it too too far.

In a democracy it should be seperate because not everyone believes the same thing.
