I have no idea what that means either. I helped a woman (complete stranger) pick out a new purse. She was older and quite nice, and she told me that her husband had just died and she was "reinventing" herself. Evidently, this is something she was encouraged to do in her grief support group. She wanted a purse that made her look younger, and she told me she was now dressing differently (jeans). She was sweet - and lonely.
I don't want to reinvent myself. My desire is to become a little more each day the person I was meant to be. It took me many years to realize that much of what I believed about myself was false. I let unhealthy people in my life tell me what sort of person I was. It was quite liberating to begin to question the lies and live free of that nonsense. I admit to being a bit peeved as well.
I find this quiet voice inside that wants to do things and say things and experience things and respond in ways much different from what "they" told me. It's the real me. It's who I was when I was innocent, before my heart was so severely wounded and life scared me into a corner.
Getting my life back has been a challenge and sometimes very uncomfortable. But I love my life more every day, and I'm becoming the person I want to be little by little, inch by inch.
Mercy Me has a new song that I like: the chorus goes something like this:
I'm not trying to hide anything, I wear it on my sleeve,
I'm not trying to be something I'm not, this is all I've got,
I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, I just want to be real....

Well I think almost everyone at point or another has tried in some way to reinvent themselves. This stems from a background that we are sometimes not so proud of. It is difficult and sometimes impossible because reinventing oneself is a drastic change. Change, the best and most consistent ones at least, happens gradually over time. It cannot be forced. It happens because change is inevitable. But when we try to force the issue, it becomes a charade rather than a genuine change.

Yes, I think that we all from one time or another have tried to change our lifestyles, but we always seem to go back to where we were. But with maybe some slight subtle changes. I have given up on trying to reinvent myself as I am happy with who I am and so are the people I am around. You cannot be something that you have never been and the worse thing you can do is to try to change to please another person. Eventually all the tedium of the change will wear you down and yes, you will fail. Just be yourself and be happy. If other people don't like you for who you are then they are not your friends and you need to find those who truly are your friends.

You can only reinvent yourself successfully if it's your next step in evolving in you as a person. It can't be forced or tried on like a hat. Plus, in reinvention do one thing at a time and incorporate more as you master one, i.e. interested in the Arts.

Reinventing your self is what existence is all approximately. Any time you're making a tricky determination, and proceed to exist, you have in certainty reinvented your self. As for consciously doing so, the final subject i will permit you already know is which you would be able to desire to come to a decision what you % to BE, and make a plan to get from element A to point out B. Then, commit to it, and artwork! stable luck :-)

I have tried to reinvent myself and it never worked because at first, I didn't believe that anything was wrong. Now I know I am not completely happy with myself but I first have to become happier and be completely happy with who I am and then I will be able to reinvent myself. Maybe you aren't completely and truly happy with yourself.

I thought you looked familiar! You were at the Madonna concert in 2004 when it said "Reinvent Yourself" on the big screens at the end. I tried to reinvent myself, too, but it's not so easy when you aren't Madonna. Old habits die hard.

Because you are content with yourself. You are human so you have flaws. In order to reinvent yourself, you must first evaluate yourself, find your flaws/ what you don't find admirable, and then commit to a gradual change in this area. It is formatting your character. I have tried, and have noticed some change, but I am not done. I look to perfect myself for all the days of my life.

Reinvention comes from understanding yourself. You can't just reinvent yourself. You need to understand your strengths and weaknesses. Concentrate on making your strengths stronger. You can improve to some extent on your weaknesses. There are courses and classes that can help you. You need to identify who you are, before any change can happen.

Maybe you're too focused on changing the superficial things, like your wardrobe or your physical appearance.

Maybe you are trying to be pretentious to appease someone you admire, or someone you desperately want the approval of.

Maybe you were trying to change some old habits, or old behaviors.

You can't change what you don't acknowledge. And you don't break habits, you simply replace them with new habits.

That doesn't change what's on the inside.

A new perspective may be the best way to change the way you look at things.

Accomplishments are the best way to change how you see yourself.

Maybe if you made some accomplishments you would grow some confidence, realize all of your attributes, and not want to change anything at all.
