and is it curable?

Most women who have had yeast infections before recognize them and are able to successfully self-treat them, but if this might be your first one - don't worry, it's curable.

The symptoms are usually intense itching around and in the vaginal opening, and thick white/yellow/light green discharge that has an odor unlike your usual scent.

It is very easy to confuse a yeast infection with vaginal bacterial infections, so before you try to treat it with an over-the-counter remedy do check with your doctor. Treating a bacteria and treating yeast are total opposites and you could make the problem worse.

You should at this point refrain from intercourse, as if your partner becomes infected as well, you can pass it back and forth to each other.

In women, yeast infections are the second most common reason for vaginal burning, itching, and discharge. Yeasts are found in the vagina of most women and can overgrow if the environment in the vagina changes. Antibiotic and steroid use is the most common reason for yeast overgrowth. But pregnancy, menstruation, sperm, diabetes, and birth control pills also can contribute to getting a yeast infection. Yeast infections are more common after menopause.

Signs and symptoms of a candidal infection can vary depending on the location of the infection. In women, signs and symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection are a white cheesy discharge that typically itches and irritates the vagina and surrounding outer tissues. On occasion there may be pain with sexual intercourse or burning with urination.

Most cases of candidiasis do not have to be treated in the hospital. Most candidal infections can be treated at home with over-the-counter or prescription medication and can clear within a week. But if some other disease has weakened your immune system, consult your doctor for any new symptoms before attempting self-treatment. You may risk getting an infection.
People with weakened immune systems may have more serious infections, however, and may need to be hospitalized. Women should go to the hospital when fever, chills, nausea and vomiting, or abdominal pain accompanies vaginal discharge. These symptoms can indicate a more serious problem.

Well you will pass some white stuff that looks like cottage cheese and will have irritation. and yes it is curable. But the doctors can prescribe just one pill to take and it wouldn;t hurt the unborn child and taking certain kind of medication can cause a yeast infection and you can give to your boyfriend also and he can keep passing it back to you. So he would have to take care of his self also. I hope this answer your question.

Very itchy and red skin in that area and a smelly discharge. But, some women have a naturally high yeast content that's harmless, so a doctor has to diagnose an infection. And yes, it's very treatable, sometimes even with over the counter meds.

Yes, they are curable. If you are looking for a natural cure you can use organic apple cider vinegar( I used this on my son when he got a diaper yeast infection and it really worked), or you can use yogurt(I haven't used this myself, but the yogurt has something in it that cures yeast infections). You should go to your doctor first and make sure that it is a yeast infection. If you like you can do a google search on a natural cure for yeast infections.
