The same thing in my opinion The Berlin Wall was used to keep people from East Germany from entering West Germany U.S. Mexico Border Wall is used to keep immigrants from crossing into the U.S. I think both The Berlin Wall and the U.S. Mexico Border Wall should be things we should never have had or have because instead of separating countries apart we should try to unite each other by working together instead of trying to separate each other by building a wall.

Well, one is in between two countries, the other separated two pieces of a single city.

The U.S.-Mexico Border wall would be built to keep people out - the Berlin Wall was built to keep people in.

The Berlin wall was to separate and oppress a country that wanted to be whole. The US border is not to oppress people from coming in but is there for a boundary to let people that want to be a part of our society and culture as well as share their culture to come in legally. By this I mean that they want to work hard to make themselves and our country better and not stay here sending our monies over the border, with out paying taxes and draining our infrastructure of it's resources without replenishing them in some fashion.

The Berlin Wall was a massive cement block structure topped with barbed wire and with manned machine gun posts; the US Border wall is an imaginary, non-existant structure held up by political hot air.

The U.S. - Mexico border (practically non-existent, though it is) is meant to keep people from entering our country illegally, and us from entering theirs the same way. The Berlin Wall divided people from the same country, the same city.

Assuming the US-Mexican wall ever gets built, the simplest answer is:

The Berlin Wall was built to keep people from leaving.

The Border Wall would be built to keep people from entering.
