Being religious on the outside does not make you religious on the inside. I use the word religious loosely here as I do not wish to envoke a particular religion. They can sleep and exist without conscience because their piety pertains to their own sense of right and wrong and their constant justification of their respective existences. That said, the answer to your question lies in the fact that they are exactly the same as Bin Laden and the likes, in that they truly believe that the killing they are doing is within the realm of religious acceptance, according to their bible, in as much as Bin Laden's is within the realm of his. The approval of their respective gods is, according to all 3 of them, absolutely clear. In fact they are doing it all in the name of........

The devil believes in God
It means nothing. What is important is. Did you help the elderly did you help the fatherless the poor and destitute. If you are a wealthy man did you forgive the loans to the widows and those that lost their husbands in war. Did you liberally share that which you have.

There Christians and the God of the Bible allowed for a lot of people to die even mass genocide of Canaanites for the pursuit of the will of God. And if you continue the Christian trek Romans chapter 12 says that government authority comes from God. Both have been reelected to the offices they currently hold, or in other words, God could have threw them out but didn't.

If those creatures are less than human, then it should be pretty easy. But, politics does not have to encompass religion. In the US, politics should be a purely secular pursuit (not true in practice but it should be).
I am not saying I think that those people were less than human, but outwardly pious people have justified killing others in a similar way.

I've thought about this before myself. They are responsible for a lot of deaths and murder is a sin. But in the same since is whoever voted for bush responsible as well. Where does the responsibility lie do we all have blood on our hands.

Again.... 655K is HIGHLY suspect as a # dead because of the war... so stop stating it as fact
As for being political and believing in God... .quite frankly, yes. God never stated being against war. God (as stated in religious teachings) smote enemies of his people....

Most people, regardless of political affiliation, have a belief in God including me.
The deaths of 650,000 people is absurd. There is nothing "Godly" about it. Very sad.
