First, I'd like to mention the difference between "weight" and "mass." "Weight" is connected to the force of gravity, so you weigh more on Earth than you do on the moon, and when you are in space, you are weightless. Your mass remains constant no matter where you are- in space, on the moon, on Jupiter, you're always the same number of kilograms because mass is the amount of matter in an object. We turn mass into weight by measuring how strongly gravity (like earth, the moon...) pulls on that mass.

IN THEORY, Yes, the mass of a skateboarder increases as his/her speed increases. Upon reaching the speed of light, his/her mass will have reached infinity.

So in short, skateboarding will NOT help you lose weight!!!

This change in mass does not make a noticable difference for something on the scale of a skateboarder. However, it is because of this effect that we must know the "rest mass" of an electron as opposed to its mass when it is in high-speed motion about the atom.

.... oh wait, I just read everyone else's answers and realized I misread the question.

Newton dropped two weights of unequal mass off the leaning tower of piza to show that heavier objects do NOT fall faster. Things fall at the same speed regardless of their weight. The reason feathers fall slowly is because of air resistance.

Yes the weight of a skateboarder will increase his/her speed but only while going downhill. When going on a level surface the momentum will increase but weight will play no part in the speed. Going uphill with more weight will obviously slow the skater down because gravity will be pulling them back, unlike downhill where gravity will pull them faster.
Hope that helps

Ankle weights won't strengthen your maximum velocity. the project with them is they throw off the physique's organic mechanics, stability and rhythm. additionally, they carry muscle imbalance that may carry approximately extreme injury. That imbalance may additionally abate overall performance. you will not see elite runners and sprinters using ankle weights in preparation for those very reasons. they gained't, on the different hand, stunt strengthen. the thought weights stunts strengthen in babies is defective and has no scientific or scientific information to back it. you're extra effective off preparation with weights in the gymnasium (do not subject, you will not get too cumbersome) and doing a sort of coaching workouts to strengthen your average velocity and stamina, which includes windsprints, hill preparation, fartleks, race p.c.. runs, slower p.c.. long runs, etc.. The intensity of the shorter workouts will strengthen VO2 max and EPOC, and the longer distance days will help strengthen average endurance. in case you check out how opposition practice, they don't run the comparable on a daily basis yet ruin up their workouts into diverse workouts besides as go-practice. additionally, elite runners will regulate their workouts as they strengthen over the years by way of fact the physique adapts. you do not must be an elite runner to hire the comparable concepts your self. So, i could noticeably propose staying far off from the ankle weights whilst working. in the top, there's no information that using ankle weights will strengthen working overall performance.

A person with more matter (heavier person) wouldn't necessarily travel at a higher speed. Sure, it does matter, but a skinny person could go just as fast with the right amount of momentum. So, it all depends on your momentum.

Only if going down hill or around curves, with any extra weight, you will go faster when going down anything.

I believe the lighter you are helps builds speed, being that its light on the wheels.

Speed is distance/time. Weight would matter because there would be more friction with a heavier skater.

Not that I know much about this topic, but common sense would tell me that if you are going down hill, the heavier person would go faster.

anything that weighs more would be harder to push or move...yet going downhill, it would be easier for a fat skater....

it just depends
