"California Grade 9 girl questioned about threats to Bush on MySpace "

She is 14 years old for crying out loud....what ever happened to freedom of speech? Do they honestly think a 14 year old girl is capable of killing George Bush? If so, they need to seriously reconsider their security measures for the US President.

Most people from my understanding out of frustration at Bush will insult call names throw temper tantrums, but never threaten a presidents life. Yes young and stupid I guess but, look at what everybody says about shooting in schools by other kids. They checked made sure she was not a threat and left. The student also said she was going to change the site. Lesson learned.

As a Canadian one thing I do know is that I have never heard of anyone say or threaten the presidents life by an American, at least a sane one. So credit to your loyalty to your idealism of your structure of leadership too.

Even if I threatened or said the Prime minister should be killed or hurt, i know I would be watched or questioned too.

Threatening the safety of a Leader of a nation can be construed as treason, but it is like threatening every citizen. Democratic right use it at election time.

You will get a knock on the door when you threaten any President of the United States. Freedom of speech has limitations.
But, you knew that already, didn't you. You just like to sound high and mighty. For crying out loud.

She was mature enough to post a threat to the President of the United States. The little retarded wench should be in jail. It's people like you that have destroyed this nation and the minds of our young.

Liberal here..

And she should be questioned about death threats against the President. Writing about killing our leader is a crime. Not free speech.

No one should use those words on a web page. What did she expect would happen?

If she were an adult she wouldn't be questioned, she would be in jail. The fact that they are only questioning her shows that they are taking into account her young age. She definitely needs to be shown that you just can't do that - at any age. I also believe that her parents, and those who manage Myspace, should be 'spoken' to.

First of all I don't think she should have posted it on my space,,, there are security measures that are taken to protect President Bush. I don't think myself there was any harm in what she did, she was blowing off steam, but we have to go by the law, and that was illegal.

Freedom of speech is great but you are not aloud to threaten people. How would you feel if someone was publicly threatening your life.

They probably should have been questioning her parents, or parent if that's the case.
