my son benjamin (we orgianlly spell it benjamynn) is five months old. i'm new to this whole parenting stuff. should my son have teeth yet? it looks like he is starting to grow front teeth because he is always rubbing there and after he does he cries. you can kind of see the teeth starting to grow. should he be growing teeth already or should he have started growing them earlier?

Average age for teething is 6-7 months, but of course some get them earlier and some teethe later....if you actually see some white in his gums, he's rubbing his mouth, drooling excessively and seems uncomfortable, he is teething. Get some remedies ready...a frozen bagel if he is eating solid food, a wet washcloth in the freezer, ice cubes, "humphries" which are all natural homeopathic teething tablets, and baby Tylenol if it gets really uncomfortable for him or he runs a fever. Get ready for some extra sleepless nights and you can post questions here if you need more help with other remedies for him. Good luck!

Babies teeth at all different ages.
I'd suggest talking to your mom and your hubby's mom to find out when the two of you got teeth. There usually is a pattern in families.
They can have teething pain for months before you actually see teeth break through the gums.

It's perfectly normal for babies to start growing teeth at 5 months. My niece is only 4 months old and she has two bottom teeth already.

All children are different but that is actually a good age to begin teething. What you need to do is give him something to gum on so that he can break the teeth in. You also need to prepare yourself for late nights. He will eventually get a fever(more than likely) because of the developoment in his mouth.

All kids are different. Some kids are even born with teeth and some don't start growing til thier almost one. Don't worry your kid is fine just get him a couple teething toys and some baby anbesol to relieve the pain.
