KMnO4(aq) + HCl(aq) ==> Mn2+(aq) + Cl2(g) + K+(aq) + H2O(l).

Chlorine b ut its yellow. Not sure what black gas would be.

2KMnO4+16HCl---->2KCl+2MnC2+8H2O+5Cl2
the gas formed is grenish-yellow in colour
