There are predators EVERYWHERE. So from that point, no place is truly safe. If you limit any chats to people whom you know personally -- relatatives and friends from school or your neighborhood -- you should be OK.

The cardinal rules are these: 1. NEVER arrange to meet anyone whom you met on line at a place like My Space or Yahoo 360, etc. 2. NEVER engage in sexual chat with ANYONE on line. If you obey those rules, you'll be fine!

Is myspace safe? In a word: kinda
If u don't go chatting to strangers and being like "I go to Jumbubuyou High School and I'm 16 and I live in Sopotatata, Oregon", u r reasonably safe. There are now A LOT of stories about kids being lured over the internet by child predators(not preditors, lol). Those are real. Those kids are raped(ew!) killed(those guys are incredibly mean!) and abused. THese predators are not nice guys!

I am a teen and i am not on myspace. I think about joining it all the time because i hear ppl saying stuff like "i love myspace" and "EVERYONE has a myspace!" It gets pretty annoying.

If u r under fourteen, don't join it at all because the minimum age is fourteen. There are some adult contents on there, even though there aren't supposed to be any. Myspace is safe depending on how u use it. If some old guy is asking you "do u wanna do it with me?" say no, report him, and don't try to flirt. Even if he is saying that he is the same age as you. THink about it, would guys ur age really say the stuff predators do?" I don't think so. Even if he was your age......that still be a creepy teenager rofl!

If u r chatting with some1 and u think they are getting inappropriate, try saying "did u know my daddy helps catch online predators. It is a VERY interesting job. What does ur daddy do?" That'll scare him off! :)

Yep. There are predators out there. They are everywhere.
But, the really terrible dangers are too tiny to be seen unless you have a microscope! they are germs and virus!

Don't act scared, fight back! Never put your full name nor your last name in any registration, and use '1234 home street, anywhere, Al, USA" for the address.

Don't put your real phone, and never answer a mail from a stranger, just click all the little boxes to the left of all messages from unknown senders, and, hit SPAM button, that is up top!

Surf from behind a hardware firewall/in a router... That way they can't find you! I like the FREE http://ipcop.org you build on an old computer...

Anyway, there are MORE of us grandpas and Dads Grandmas, and Moms, than there are nasty warped weirdos and pedophiles! Many of us are in Law Enforcement, or are on the Courts Staff, and we are cracking down hard on them!

So, don't be afraid, be alert. Don't let them know you are there, and watch for danger. Then, alert a parent or police about what you see.

Everything is really as safe as we can make it, with your help.

Its Safe If You want It To Be Safe.
If You Give Your Name, Where Abouts, School, Friends Names, Anything.
Then Yeah It Can Be Become Deadly.
BUT
If You Make Up Nicknames For Your Friends Or A Fake Name For All Your Friends, And Say You Live In Siberia Or Someplace Weird Than Yeah, Its Safe.
BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL!!!
:]

Unfortunately no website on the world wide web is completely safe from predators. There will always be a sick person that can get through the red tape. As great as the Internet can be, it allows a person to be anything and anybody they want. You just need to use your best judgment when it comes to the people you "talk" to. Here is a good site to refer to for Internet safety:

As long as you don't put to much information about yourself. And some people are dumb enough to do that. Set your profile to private.

Be careful of how much personal information you post about yourself.

I think they have settings so that only friends you invite can see your stuff - but you have to set it up that way.
