in most states all you need is a passport or driver's license but many states do no require any identification. in the state of georgia you pay the fee for a marriage license and the judge marries the two of you thats it...no attorneys, no documentation nothing....access the website for your county and follow the links to obtaining a marriage license. one thing too just because he marries a legal citizen will not make him nor your children automatic legal citizens, he will still have to go through the immigration process which here in georgia is very easy. here the illegal or spouse calls the immigration office they send out the paper work, you fill it out include any fees, send it in and they send out the next set of paperwork etc. until you are done. i would suggest he pursuing becoming legal as its the right thing to do, paying taxes and committing to this country is the fair and responsible thing to and lets face it the immigration laws are changing constantly and with the upcoming election you both may find yourself in dire straits. here in georgia even though they do no uphold the laws if caught an illegal can be deported and the person who is harboring them can be jailed and fined.

To get married, you just need to follow the same process two legal citizens would follow. Go to the clerk's office and apply for a marriage license, and get married.

Has your boyfriend ever been in this country legally, or did he enter the country illegally? If he entered illegally, marrying a US citizen will not help him get his citizenship. To get his citizenship, he will need to return to his home country, and apply for an immigration visa from there. Because he entered illegally, he will be barred from entering the US for 10 years. You, of course, would be able to move to his home country to live if you are eligible under that country's immigration laws.

First he needs to go back to his country. Then you can start the process. You can't get married here if he's not in the country legally.

Once he goes home, you can apply for a visa for him to come to the US in order to marry.

If you try to fool the authorities by marrying anyway, he won't be able to get a green card because the initial paperwork won't be there or valid.

Bad idea, never marry an illegal!! Sometimes they marry you only for the green card and like that they leave you!!!

Watch out, I'm not lying, I know someone who went through that.
