Sure, but try to add some sort of lighter color to it like a tan. Either that or wear something different all together for the ceremony and the reception.

I Found different advice from different sources:
"Don't wear black or sequins during the daytime"
"Wearing black: the long standing tradition of ladies not wearing black to a wedding has been overturned. Today, even the bridesmaids might be outfitted in black. Just make sure you don't look like you're attending a funeral. Consider accessorizing that little black dress with a brightly colored scarf or blazer"
"I've worn a black dress to a wedding, but it was a black dress that was long with spaghetti straps and huge fuschia flowers all over it (much prettier than it sounds!). I would say something like that is okay, I don't know about straight black. But no one is going to kick you out of the chapel for it. Just dress it up with some color and accessories"
"These days, it's fine to wear black at a wedding held in the evening or during the day. Some brides even choose black as the color for their bridesmaids' dresses.
There aren't really any taboo colors for weddings. Although, guests should not wear all-white outfits so as not to compete with the bride. Some brides like the mother and mother-in-law to coordinate their outfits and colors to not clash with the wedding colors"
Hope I could shed some light! Looks like it is okay nowadays!!

You NEVER wear a black dress to a wedding. It's totally inappropriate as it's the color of funerals. You also never wear a totally white outfit or anything that will upstage the bride because it's HER day.

I don't think it's such a good idea for the morning... if it was an evening wedding then it will be more appropriate.
If you do decide to wear it, tone it down with a bright colour like pink mixed with a dull colour like silver to even everything out. Try and stay away from silver only or red.

I wouldn't wear black in the morning and especially not to a wedding, but that is just me. If you decide to wear it make sure you add light accessories as an accent color.

Yes, if it is formal, but I might lighten up on the shoes since it is a wedding not a funeral. Red would be a little too hot, so maybe go with white and dazzle them with a little contrast. Pearls would be a classy touch.

You're supposed to stay away from black, white, red, and the wedding colors. Things have changed, though, so those colors may be ok. I'm sure if you talk to the bride, she'll clear it up for you!

I wouldn't. Ask the bride what her "colors" are. Typically you would not wear black unless it is a formal evening wedding.

Yes, but I would add a wrap as you'll be in church AND it will break up the black, kind of "dress it down" a bit.
I would get a pretty pink pashmina wrap and a cute pink bag.
