Yes, thats how I ended up with the beautiful little girl in my picture. I happened to be on the pill too. She was meant to be. Sperm live in the body for up to five days, so even if a woman isnt ovulating on the day she has sex, she can still get pregnant if she ovulates within a few days of having sex. Different things can throw off a womans cycle without her even knowing it. While mid-cycle is when a woman is 'supposed' to ovualate, you can never know for sure. Our bodies do irregular things. And according to my doctor, more women get pregnant on their periods than you would think.

Don't listen to the lies! No you can not! Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. However, it will not be during your period. Many people think it’s possible because they do not completely understand how conception works. It might not happen right at the moment of intercourse since the sperm can live for days! If your cycle is short and you ovulate earlier than day 14 it can SEEM like conception takes place during your period...They only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

Yes it is possible, although more unlikely. The reason being is that by the time the period starts, this is flushing away a suitable environment for the egg. BUT, the bleed doesn't ALWAYS coincide with the release of the egg. Therefore there is a chance that the egg will still be lurking around. Also the boystuff can last for 10 days in there, swimming around, and may just catch the next egg .... If you are trying to avoid getting pregnant then still use protection. If you have had a mishap, still go for the morning after pill. You probably wouldn't be pregnant, so then there is no moral dilemma with the morning after pill but it's better to be safe. Overall, don't feel that you can use your period as a form of contraception. Best of luck!

It's definitely possible, although not necessarily probable unless your cycles tend to be on the short side. While you are on your period, your body is already preparing for the next ovulation and sperm can live in your body for up to 5 days. The shorter your cycles are, the more likely it is that you're ovulating days earlier than the "Day 14" average/myth. The sperm deposited during intercourse you had on your period (especially in the later days) could still be viable by the time you ovulate.

It is absolutely possible to become pregnant whilst menstruating. The only way to prevent pregancy is to use contraception...it only takes one sperm for you to become pregnant and sperm can survive surprisingly long times within the woman's uterus.
