I have an industrial (double cartiledge). The first didn't hurt too much, but it bleeds a lot. The second hurts a lot more because your ear goes into shock.

I had my ears pierced at the cartiledge and it definitely hurt more than the lobe piercing. I had it done with the gun though and now I hear that they are required by law to use a needle instead and apparently that is a bit less painful. But, yes, count on some pain and the pain will last for about 10 days. You can 't lie on your ear at all during that time.

My friend pierced her nose and found it very painful to sneeze for about a week. Otherwise, she said it wasn't too bad.

I hope that helps.

I have never had mine pierced, but I have heard that it is pretty painful. I think that (supposedly) it hurts more than getting your (ear)lobes pierced, so I would expect a strong stinging pinch. (The feeling of a bee sting but maybe a little worse)
The feeling of getting one might hurt you later in life too. I know for a fact that Continental Airlines will not hire employees with more than one piercing in their earlobes, and that includes cartliges.
But hey! If you like it, that's really all that matters. Good Luck!

I had mine originally pierced by an amatuer and it hurt so much. Try to get it done at a tattoo studio if possible. My mother in law had her's pierced by a professional piercer and said she just felt a little pressure on her ear. She had previous had it done at one of those mall stores. A lot of those boutique girls don't know what they are doing and accidentally hit a nerve.

depends...how are you getting it pierced? Just a regular piercing that you can get at Wal-Mart's jewelry counter with a gun? If that's the case then no, it doesn't hurt that badly...it's quick and over with in a sec.

If you're going to a tattoo/piercing shop to get it done, it'll hurt like hell. I had an industrial done in my left ear last year and it hurt worse that getting my hood and my tongue pierced...

That really depends on what your pain tolerance is like, but in my experience, the piercing hurt less than the healing! One year after having my ears done, they were still sore when I changed jewelry.

It only stings a little more, but it does take longer to heal than getting the fleshy part pierced. 6 mo-1 yr vs. 6 weeks. So you have to take a little more care of them.

I have my um....trachus(i think thats how you spell it!) pierced on both ears and it hurt REALLY bad. But to me it was worth the pain! I would do it again! I think him putting the ring in hurt more than the peircing itself though because of him having to move it around and stuff. I would do it if i were you!

My daughter says that getting it pierced really didn't hurt but don't lay on. Despite what people say, you can twist it but don't constantly play with it cause it tends to get infected more than regular piercings.
