Whenever one critisizes the current administrations policies in Iraq or elsewhere one gets negative remarks from people whose only military experience is with video games. I, like John Murtha, have seen young Marines killed in combat. He has been accused of being a coward by those who have never served such as Mr.(I have never seen a Vietnam War deferment I didn't like, Dick Cheney.) Dick Cheney just went on the offense, blasting people like Murtha as being in favor of cutting and running. Can't we just air drop Cheney, Tony Snow, Ann Coulter and right wing talk show hosts into Iraq? How proud they would make us. Murtha was a hawk who saw too many dead and maimed troops coming home in an ill chosen conflict. Cheney and Bush never served, and seldom visit. Bush was a better cheerleader than a pilot.

My anger is not with the troops, of course. I was one. I just lose it when I see people like Cheney pump their chest and call those who really served cowards(not directly, but in carefully chosen code words.) Dick Cheney is my candidate for worst person in the world. I would love to see him run for president in 08.

There are a number of extreme right wing folk in the military but I am agreeing with you. Most of the narrow sliver of Republican extremists who hijacked the Republican leadership are chicken hawks with no military experience. They never saw people they ordered into harms way in the hospital wards afterwards ....or being carried into cargo jets for the last flight home. I suppose this is why they are so in love with war and military solutions.

I must say I agree. I got "attacked" on here because of a comment I made about MY opinion. Apparantly I don't know the facts and need to look them up...My theory...Maybe people should look up both sides of the facts and figure out that the true answers lie somewhere in the middle....
I'm not in any way, shape, or form related to the armed forces or the gov't (other than being a U.S. Citizen) but I do know a lot of people who have been majorly affected by this war and wars past. My grandpa is a veteran and I have friends who have siblings in Iraq. Support the troops...not the "cause" is the theory I have started to live by.

You no what I fear will happen to American troops in Iraq & Afganistan? Well here is my theory; The Bush government doesn't want to spend any more money then neccessary, so they will let all the military hardware break down and let the soldiers remain there until they die. The more US soldiers that survive the war the more benifits the government will have to dish out.
It's a sick freaky thought, but I think this is the mind set of the Bush admin.

i imagine the country is beginning to slip out of the grip of the neo-Marxist bigot propagandists. i'm in touch about the position this is going to land. The youngest adults now no longer purchase the neo-Marxist crap yet they seem wondered about what's somewhat authentic. As my source notes so replaced into I, notwithstanding this is beginning to sparkling some now. playstation : you're freaking out too a lot. Get some help.

I'm an active duty veteran and I don't like John Murtha. I earned the right to say that.

I think that Yahoo Answers simply appeals to more people with lower intelligence, and those people tend to be the blind Sunshine Patriots who are more than willing to believe whatever George and Dick and their minions have to say, rather than really exploring the issues (which requires expending mental energy) and arriving at their own conclusions based on actual facts.

I oppose this war but I would never presume to contradict anyone with actual combat experience, who ventured to disagree with me. I might disagree with them but I would absolutely give their views way more weight that those of our leaders who dodged military service.
Same with bereaved parents of soldiers - I give equal weight to the Peace Mom and to the moms who go all rah-rah over the war as a way to justify their child's death. One is handling it by trying to end war, the other by trying to understand and complete what her child started. Each is handling grief as best they can, I am certainly not going to take issue with either one.

The problem isn't with your point of view or your presentation. The problem as you state is with the forum. This unfortunately is not a forum for constructive dialog.
