No, no and no.
Root or no. It's incredibly difficult to clone an animal at the current time under the best of conditions. First off a hair by itself is only protein. If the root is attached that means there are some dead cells from the hair follicle. Dead cells cannot be used for cloning. DNA can still be isolated from dead cells though and it can be used for forensic purposes. Cloning requires a live cell from which a nucleus can be romeved without damaging it. The nucleus is inserted into a fertilized ovum (before it divides) that has had its own nucleus removed. If lucky the egg with the new nucleus will divide normally to produce an embryo.

Let me guess... you had a one night stand, the only trace he left was a pubic hair... now you miss him so much you need him back in your life... and the answer is to clone him!
only joking.
yes it is theoretically possible, as the hair cells contain the DNA that make up the identity of the person.

Umm... are you trying to clone me from one?
I think it is possible, in theory at least as long as the hair has a follicle attached still.
If you do make a clone from a pubic hair then you could win a Nobel prize... or be fined for crimes against humanity! I don't know which!

No, you need a living cell, which I furthermore think needs to be an egg or at least a stem cell, to make a clone. Thus the problems with cloning and stem cell research.
I'm not an expert on this, however. But I do know that hair definitely won't work.

Hey its not something I've ever wanted to dwell on but after reading the answers if ever there was an argument for hollywood waxing (i.e. all off) its been argued pretty well here. Imagine innocently going to some public loo and years later running into clones of yourself - freaky.
Yeah, you're all thinking now aren't you? But are you going to ensure you never drop a stray one?

They have not figured out how to "re-boot" the genetic code from a single hair but I believe they will in time because all the necessary information is stored in the DNA.

I really don't know, but the question struck me as funny. How would you tell your kid clones they were formed from your pubic hair?

yes when you pluck your eyebrows you see a white thing from where the end was connected and if the pubic hair has that then yes. because that is DNA and DNA is always different from everyine else

yes, we wont though because americas science dep. is to cheep,
thats besides the point. you can take cells and just divide them, a pubic hair also contains lots of other stuf so does every part/cell on your body, they all contain every information to make up a humanbeing

protection for women, warmth for adult males. The male testes could desire to be stored on the particular temp, hair helps to maintain that, for women the hair protects from micro organism and different issues from shifting into only like on your nostril. yet somewhat on the top of the day, its in ordinary terms a huge discomfort!
